Three checks for buying with confidence

Grading labels are useful, but the individual certificate and the photographs should still be reviewed together.

1

Match the certificate

Open the grader’s certificate record and compare the card name, set, number and assigned grade.

2

Inspect both photographs

Review the front and reverse images of the exact slab, including the label and holder shown in the gallery.

3

Confirm live availability

Unique certificate listings are normally stocked as one unit. The product page shows the current basket status.

Certificate check

Open the grader’s public record

Enter a certificate from a listing at The Slab Arena or a slab you already own. The lookup opens on the selected grader’s website in a new tab.

A matching certificate record alone does not authenticate the physical slab. Compare the record with the label and photographs.

A concise grading guide

What the headline grades mean

PSA and ACE assign grades using their own standards. PSA 10 and ACE 10 are each described as Gem Mint by that company. Read the assigned grade on the label and check it against the grader’s record. The Slab Arena does not regrade encapsulated cards. A PSA grade is not an ACE grade, and the same number does not mean the companies use the same standard.

The Slab Arena does not independently regrade encapsulated cards. Product pages report the grade printed on the holder and link to the relevant certificate where available.
10

Gem Mint

PSA’s top numeric grade. Review the current PSA grading standards for the full definition and tolerances.

9

Mint

A high-grade card with a small flaw or allowance that keeps it below the Gem Mint level.

8

Near Mint-Mint

A strong example with more visible allowance than a 9. Exact characteristics vary from card to card.

ACE 10

Gem Mint

ACE’s top numeric grade. Compare the holder with ACE’s certificate record rather than a copied definition.

Frequently asked

Graded cards, explained

Clear answers for a first graded-card purchase.

What is a graded Pokémon card?
A card assessed and given a grade by a grading company, then enclosed in a labelled holder. The listing shows the grading company, assigned grade and certificate details.
Will I receive the slab in the photographs?
Check the individual listing to confirm the slab and photographs supplied. Compare the label and certificate number before ordering.
Does a grade of 10 mean the card or holder is flawless?
The grade reflects the grading company’s assessment of the card. PSA 10 and ACE 10 are each that company’s Gem Mint grade. They are not interchangeable. Review the listing photographs and the grader’s own standards.
How do I check a PSA or ACE certificate?
Use Check a certificate above, or the PSA and ACE links beside it, then compare the grader’s record with the listing and slab label. A matching certificate record alone does not authenticate the physical slab.
Why can the same card appear more than once?
Different listings can show the same card artwork and grade with different certificates. Compare the certificate number and photographs to choose the specific slab.
Are all listed cards in stock?
The collection includes published listings that may be out of stock. Check the availability shown on each card and the current product page before ordering.
Can I return a graded card?
See our Refund and Returns Policy for current return information.
